I just finished 'Teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons' with my 4 year old son. The early readers are to easy for him and boring but the level 3-4 readers have really difficult words. I am looking for some books that have simple words but mor…

WITH LOVE TO KALO

Sometimes I take it for granted that my son is healthy. And then I hear about other people's children who have been afflicted by something terrible, and the constant challenges they face, and I am humbled.

A little while back I visited with an old friend of my mother's who told me this incredibly poignant and heartbreaking

Middle School Favorite

Hello Everyone!
I'm so excited to find this site! I'm a middle school librarian who reads the
"kid's books" so that I can make suggestions and share with my students. Some of our favorite series include:
The Mediator series by Meg Cabot (A 16 year-old mediator, who helps ghosts get to the other side, falls in love with the ghost who lives in her new home.)
The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod series by Brewer ( The adventures of a teenage boy who is half vampire and half human.)
The Last Apprentice se… Continue

It is far too cold to be wearing a t-shirt but it is the perfect weather for having our heads stuck in books!

P.J. Story Hour

I love reading for myself and I try to pass my love of reading to my students. Unfortunately, many parents have forgotten the joy of reading to their children! For the past 3 years, I have held a P.J. Bedtime Story Hour at my school, scheduling it for around 6:30 p.m. on a school night and inviting the pre-k students at our school and their parents to wear their p.j.'s, bring a blanket to sit on, and I display and read from some of my favorite books. I use this as a night to communicate to the p… Continue

Love this website

This web site is the best! As a James Patterson fan, I have read almost everything I can get my hands on by him. (you) I have always loved to read, and as I do today, I would find a book I liked, and then I'd devour everything by that author. It has been heart breaking that my son didn't share the same passion for reading, but I have used this site as a way to find books he might be interested in, and it has now become something we do together~and with great success! He has also become so aware… Continue
